What you'll learn

Mai i te kōpae ki te urupa, tatou ako tonu ai.

From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.

Taku Haerenga 2 is an online course designed for Year 10 students. It aligns with both New Zealand Curriculum Key Competencies and Career Development Benchmarks. It is between 10 and 15 hours of learning and is perfect for implementing across the school in form time or as a three week unit.

Taku Haerenga helps prepare students, not just for work today but how work will change in their lifetime.  In this course students examine their life situation now and where they want to be in the future including what options they will need to consider for senior school years and beyond.

Topics covered:
1. Who am I this year? – where students look at their skills, values, and interests and where these skills might lead to in the future.
2. The world of work - where students explore the world of work, how it is changing and what might be expected of them.
3. Keeping my options open – where students explore career options and perform a gap analysis to identify barriers and strengths they need to consider when choosing a career.
4. Moving on up Students learn about more holistic skills they might need to prepare them for their chosen career.
