Taku Haerenga 3 is an online course designed for Year 11 students. It aligns with both New Zealand Curriculum Key Competencies and Career Development Benchmarks. It is between 10 and 15 hours of learning and is perfect for implementing across the school in form time or as a three week unit.  

Taku Haerenga helps prepare students, not just for work today but how work will change in their lifetime.  In this course students start planning and learning skills to prepare them for when school is over. They will complete activities that help them plan their journey through senior school.  

Topics covered:
1. A look in the mirror – where students consider their previous carer goals and consider whether these have changed. 
2. Where to when high school is over? – where students explore the many different vocational pathways and consider which pathways fit with their goals and skills and create an action plan. 
3. The world of work- where students learn skills to get a job, including writing a CV, interview skills and learning rights and responsibilities as a worker. 
4. Research your career topic – where students explore a chosen career more deeply.
